Alison P. Darrow

Originally from Vermont, Alison studied painting at Bard College and has since created illustrations, graphic narratives, ceramic tile murals, canvas floorcloths, and relief prints while continuing to focus on painting. She’s also an avid amateur shutterbug who uses her Instagram feed as her “notebook.” Her paintings and relief prints are represented in private collections throughout the United States.

Her current work, both representational and abstract, aims to capture moments when fleeting focus is rewarded: when small, familiar, and ordinary everyday miracles of color and light that we’re usually too busy to notice — evanescent quiet glories, odd juxtapositions — are suddenly illuminated and flare into something other, and wondrous.

To see a world in a grain of sand And a heaven in a wild flower, Hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. –William Blake
