Bonnie Mineo
My work includes unique relief prints, paintings and mixed media works exploring colors and shapes from nature. I love to travel and it usually involves hiking and observing the details in the environment. My work develops in series and one thing always leads to another. Series can last a few months or a few years. My process is fast and free and my work combines color, texture and layering.
The current print series explores the colors and textures of the ocean and beach. I love the stuff that washes up with the tide. Studying seaweed, in all its variations of intricate shapes and unusual colors, led to octopus and jellyfish swimming by. I have been working in my studio in Fort Point for 20 years in an artist co-operative building. I also teach workshops in Relief Printmaking and Collage & Mixed Media. My classes are hands-on in small groups and we create a series of related unique prints or mixed media works on paper in a collaborative environment.
