My work explores duality in several ways. Most obviously: Black and white. Light vs. dark. It’s not that I dislike color, but I think art becomes more compelling when you take away the opportunity to be subtle. Ink pens are one of the most basic tools, but each stroke turns simplicity into something with great complexity and fine detail. I exclusively work with fineliner pens and black ink, attempting to exploit the power of simple lines, patterns, and whitespace. In each drawing, I build many designs within one design so each viewer finds something new to call their own.
