Kristin Mallia

Kristen Mallia is an interdisciplinary artist based in Boston, MA. Her work examines ritual,
collection, and preservation through multimedia installation, graphic design, and time-based
media. Concerned with the relationship between identity and place, Mallia’s work considers
the evolution and accumulation of behaviors and structures over time with a particular focus
on personal histories in relation to “home.” Mallia received a BA in Electronic Media from
The George Washington University, a BFA in Graphic Design from Corcoran College of Art +
Design, and an MFA from Boston University. She was an Artist-in-Residence at ArtsIceland in
Isafjörður, Iceland in August 2022 and Skaftfell Center for Visual Arts in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland
in 2020. She will be in residency at L’Appartamento Napoli in Naples, Italy, in June of 2023.
Mallia is the recipient of numerous grants through the City of Boston. Her work has been
exhibited in the US and abroad, with a 2-person exhibit at PatriotHall Gallery in Edinburgh,
Scotland scheduled for August 2023, and most recently in The Newport Biennial 2022 at the Newport Art Museum in Rhode Island (juried by Dr. Kimberli Gant). Mallia maintains an independent studio practice, Mallia Design, which provides boutique design services and creative direction to a variety of clients in the arts and hospitality. She is co-chair of Exhibitions Committee at Midway Artist Studios and a member of the Radius Collective and FPAC. Mallia is an Assistant Professor of Art & Design at Suffolk University.
